The Best Christmas and Winter Menus in London 2020 and Restaurant Design
Are you looking for a choice for where to find the best festive menus in London gets more and more bewildering every year? Read on to learn about Restaurant seating!
Winter dining out is never more exciting than over the holiday season.
Classic winter dinners with hearty soups, roasts, and stews are well-loved dishes that come to mind for the perfect dining experience. However, there are other options for those looking for a little more adventure.
According to the Evening Standard, the best winter menus in 2019 aren’t necessarily those serving traditional British winter fayre. Lovers of seafood, are recommended London Shell Co. or The Wright Brothers. For those looking for some spice, try Kanishka or Dishoom, both of which are offering an Indian twist on some of our traditional dishes. Anyone after the classic turkey and all the trimmings, look no further than Simpsons in the Strand or The Coal Shed. The choice is endless but wherever you end up, the main course is only one part of the whole experience.
We cannot write a blog about festive menus without mentioning Christmas pudding. Its origin goes right back to medieval England where it was known as plum pudding or simply “pud”.
Christmas pudding is traditionally made with suet, black treacle, dark sugar and lots of fruit, making it a somewhat heavy last course.
As a result, Christmas pudding is less commonly found on restaurant and pub menus than the turkey roast, with chocolate options such as yule log and cheese boards making their way onto many of the above restaurant’s menus as a slightly lighter option. Still, plenty of calories to keep you warm though!
Creating the right atmosphere
Many restaurants, pubs, and bars go large on the decorations over the festive period – roaring log fire, huge real Christmas tree laden with baubles, not to mention the table and hanging decorations to add to the holiday fun.
Owners should also consider how they can use outdoor spaces during the colder months. Judicious use of patio heaters, temporary log fires and blankets can create a wonderful warming atmosphere with a touch of frost.
Restaurants may need a little help with their seating plans around Christmas. Catering for the increase in trade that usually comes with Christmas means that they may want to re-jig their layout for optimum profit generation. Our autumn blog discusses this in more detail. Check it out here. Larger groups may need to be accommodated together which means that flexible tabling and restaurant seating are a must-have so that you can easily move things around.
You can also consider drapes and throws to go over existing furniture to give your restaurant a more Christmassy look and feel – rich reds, vibrant greens.
